The Vienna School of Mathematics
The Vienna School of Mathematics (VSM) is dedicated to supporting and advancing PhD students in pursuing research across all branches of mathematics. As a joint graduate school of the University of Vienna and TU Wien, the VSM represents a unique initiative aimed at uniting the strengths of these two prestigious institutions, while also providing a stimulating environment that encourages networking among students.

A Rich Program of Activities
The VSM offers a dynamic range of activities designed to enrich the doctoral experience. These include:
Mini courses and special lectures: Covering fascinating topics in modern mathematics.
Workshops: Practical sessions on essential academic skills, such as scientific writing and programming in Python.
Summer schools: Unique opportunities to learn from internationally renowned professors who provide insights into their areas of expertise.
Diversity, equality, and mental health events: Initiatives that foster an inclusive environment, promote well-being, and support diversity among doctoral candidates.
Networking events: Opportunities to connect with fellow PhD students through happy hours, the PhD colloquium, and retreats.
By hosting such initiatives, the VSM ensures that doctoral candidates are not only equipped with a strong foundation in mathematics and academic skills, but also build connections, exchange ideas, and foster long-term academic relationships outside their research group and institute.
